Zaporizhzhia, motorway across the Dnipro River
A motorway with two major bridges of original design: a cable-stayed bridge across the main course of the Dnipro (165 m pylon, 260 m span) and a running-doe rigid-frame bridge across the Old Dnipro (340 m). Construction started in 2004.
Mostobud started building the motorway with bridges across the Dnipro River and the Old Dnipro in 2004. It includes two major bridges of original design:
a cable-stayed bridge across the main course of the Dnipro River;
a running-doe rigid-frame bridge across the Old Dnipro.
The motorway has 27 engineering structures in total.
Main structure — cable-stayed bridge across the Dnipro:
navigation span — 260 m, supported by parallel stays;
two separate pylons on a shared foundation carry each direction of traffic;
pylon height — 165 m (monolithic reinforced concrete);
stiffening girders — 10KhSND-2 grade steel;
stays — single twisted closed cables 93 mm in diameter;
bridge scheme — 80+260+80+80+80+80 = 660 m.
Running-doe rigid-frame bridge across the Old Dnipro: 340 m span, 10KhSND-2 steel.
Motorway key figures:
construction length of the motorway — 9.1 km;
category — city motorway;
design speed — 80 km/h;
capacity — 60,000 vehicles/day one-way (3 lanes);
lanes — 6; lane width — 3.75 m;
total bridge-structure length — 4.484 km;
interchanges — 6.
