On 1 December 2024 the Podilsko-Voskresenskyi Bridge in Kyiv was officially opened for free traffic by all vehicles — without category restrictions. This came after partial openings in 2023 for special transport and buses.
The event ended more than 30 years of construction. Although the structure is not fully functional (the metro line has not been launched and not all sections are complete), Kyiv residents finally gained the ability to cross the Dnipro from the left bank to the right via a new highway.
Full completion, including the launch of the Podilsko-Vyhurivska metro line at three stations («Sudnobudivna», «Trukhaniv Island», «Zatoka Desanka»), is expected no earlier than 2026.
