In August 2024 large-scale anti-emergency works began on Kyiv's Metro Bridge across the Dnipro. The first stage was driving 160 piles into the Dnipro riverbed to a depth of about 30 metres.
The second key stage was installing supporting arch structures under the bridge in their design position. These are necessary stabilisation works before the future capital repair, which will officially begin after the current emergency measures are complete.
The Metro Bridge — built by Mostobud in 1965 — has been rated as in emergency condition since the 1990s. The current capital repair, expected to run in 2024–2026, has been announced at more than 2 billion hryvnia.
