In 2020 Ukraine recorded the highest rate of road construction since independence. Under «Big Construction», plans called for building or repairing 6,500 km of roads, 142 schools, 117 kindergartens, and more than 500 medical facilities.
The programme drove not only road but also bridge construction: dozens of structures across the country received modern capital repairs or complete renovation.
For the bridge-engineering industry, the launch promised a stable flow of orders and a chance for leading engineering schools to return to full operational work.
