The Metro Bridge across the Dnipro in Kyiv reached its 50th anniversary in 2015. The 672-metre structure, built to the 40+80+99+2×117+99+80+40 m scheme, carries road and metro traffic on separate tiers.
Its reinforced-concrete arch-cantilever superstructure is a classic example of 1960s engineering, when Mostobud was actively mastering deep-foundation methods on shells and caissons up to 6 m in diameter.
Over 50 years of service, the bridge has carried billions of tonnes of traffic and remains a key artery of Kyiv's public transport system.
